What to expect

Here is a list of what to expect and the amenities at the Ranch

Mejor Hunting

Mejor Hunting is the result of many years of hunting.  We have been hunting since the 1940’s and 50’s when pay-to-hunt first began in the State of Texas.

Mejor Hunting is about Hunting.  We are here to give you, the hunter, a great life experience.

But we are more than that.  We are about managing the different herds and always striving to improve the herds future.

We also manage the land,  tending to the different grasses and plants, ensuring that the animals continue to stay established and are provided quality natural feed for the wildlife, while controlling invasive plants and cedar.

We don’t hunt everyday but are at the ranch 360+ days a year working and tending to the ranch, but we look forward to seeing each and every hunting group at the ranch and want to make it the best experience we can make for you.

Our History

Our heritage, in Edwards County, goes back to 1882 when this land was first settled.  Our Great Grandfather had a flock of sheep, which was bedded down each night where the current School and Football Field are located today, in Rocksprings, TX.  Our Forefathers hunted and ate wild game, raised hogs, chickens, and had milk cows.  They had a garden and planted small fields to grow corn that was freshly ground at the old horse drawn mill for corn meal.

As you can see, our Family is part of this land.

Guides

We at Mejor Hunting, know that Hunters come to hunt.  Our goal is to provide you with a great experience.   We leave it up to  you to reward our staff.  Gratuities are greatly appreciated by the guides, as this is a significant portion of their income.  If you feel that they worked to help you get your animal(s), or provided you with a home cooked meal.  Feel free to reward them.

Guides 15%-20% of hunt price

95% Success Rate

Over the last three years we have had a 95% success rate as far as hunters getting their animals that they are hunting and 100% success rate for a shot opportunity!  Multiple shot opportunities most of the time.  There are not canned hunts here.  The animals are wild and it is a true hunting challenge when you hunt with us.   Hunters that know their gun will have a greater chance of getting their animals.  We always recommend shooting your gun before you come hunting.  Be sure to know how your gun shoots at 50 yards to 250 yards minimum.

Wounded Animal Policy

If we find blood – it is yours.  We will do everything in our power to recover wounded game.  There are not many animals that we do not find.  But if you draw blood, you pay the full price whether we recover the animal of not.

Balance of Hunting Fees

The Balance of the hunt is due before the hunt begins.  Fees must be Paid In Full.  We will reschedule a hunt in case of an emergency, terrible weather in our County, like severe flooding or snow with roads closed.
